# Study with flashcards

> Use Learn Mode, add an exam date and schedule your flashcard practice.

## Start a study session

1. Open a flashcard set. If you need one, [create flashcards](https://help.studystash.com/students/create-flashcards.md) first.
2. Select **Learn** to start Learn Mode.
3. Work through the cards and record your responses as prompted. StudyStash uses your responses to schedule further practice.

## Add an exam date

Add an exam or learning target in Learn Mode to plan practice around a date.

You can also save an exam name and date in **My Stash**, then open your flashcards and select **Schedule Flashcards** to link the set to that exam.
